Prayer Intentions for December 2018

Pope Francis (In the Service of the Transmission of Faith):

That people, who are involved in the service and transmission of faith, may find, in their dialogue with culture, a language suited to the conditions of the present time.

Bishop Ricken (In Thanksgiving for the 150th Diocesan Jubilee Year in 2018):

We give thanks for the multitude of blessings that we have received during the Diocesan Jubilee Year and pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide us in the years ahead in forming true communities of missionary disciples on the way.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Can you come and spend an hour a week with Jesus?

There are openings for adorers.

What is an adorer? An adorer is a person who signs up to spend quiet time with the Lord and pray on every Wednesday for a specific hour of Adoration in the St. Gabriel Room.

Hours that adorers are needed:

2 openings for 6:00-7:00PM

Contact Dawn at 920-246-0913.

A sub list is available in the event that you cannot cover your hour one week.

Remember, God will never be outdone in generosity!

alpha hospitality

A typical ALPHA night consists of a meal or snack, a video presentation and conversation. Our Alpha Team needs members for the ‘Hospitality’ component of an Alpha night. Simply stated we’re looking for people who will help with the set-up and clean-up of meals and environment. Our fall Alpha will run on Tuesday evenings for eleven weeks September through December.

If you feel called to help with Alpha or would like more information about the program call or email Gail at the Parish Office, 494-2534 or stagnesemc@netnet.net

alpha

getting to know jesus

ALPHA is a new program that is spreading through our diocese as each parish has been asked by Bishop Ricken to make this an offering to all parishioners. Alpha is a tool to assist us in carrying out the tasks of the New Evangelization…to equip us as missionary disciples.

Alpha is designed first to remind us of the universal Catholic Christian doctrine – that Jesus suffered, died and rose again to save all people from sin and restore them for eternal life.

Second, Alpha is a program that we can share with those who are unchurched or are seeking information on Christianity and the Catholic Faith. An Alpha evening includes a simple meal, a video presentation, and conversation. The course runs for 11 weeks and includes a day of reflection.

Our fall offering begins Tuesday, September 25 / 6:00-7:30PM in the Parish Social Hall located on the ground level of the Holy Family School building. Dinner begins at 6:00. Video and conversation to follow. Evening concludes at 7:30.

Please join us – don’t worry about making all the sessions – just take it one week at a time.

Call the office, 494-2534, to register or email stagnesemc@netnet.net

spotlight on evangelization

The Solemnity of Pentecost marks the great gift of the Holy Spirit to those God the Father calls to be his own. Perhaps you can think of someone who longs to have a closer relationship with our Heavenly Father. Can you plant the seeds of hope as you speak of our Father’s loving care, and his everlasting promises

fulfilled in the sending of his son, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit? Ask about the RCIA inquiry sessions for those who are not baptized, are of other faiths, or are adult Catholics who were not confirmed by contacting Gail at the Parish Office: 494-2534 or stagnesemc@netnet.net.

The Parish Office will be closed on Tuesday, December 18 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. for a staff lunch and meeting.

Journey Into The Desert

When people think about a desert, many thoughts or images will enter their minds depending on where they’re at in life. Some may feel dryness, loneliness, or desperation. Some may feel it’s an escape from the daily routine, an adventure or exploration!

Biblically, a desert experience can be a retreat from life, a time of evaluating or testing your faith, perhaps to get a handle on where you’re at in life right now. Or simply to be with God for a while.

All are welcome!

New Schedule!

Meets on Wednesdays in the St. Gabriel Room at church.

Two Topics each week.

First session begins at 5:00 p.m., Second session at 6:00 p.m.

Come for one or all sessions – each stands alone.

January and February sessions include an overview of Church History, Catholic Morality and a weekly walk through the Seven Sacraments. The Season of Lent will take us on a detailed view of Lenten Customs and Practices, a study of the Creed, the Lord’s Prayer and the Meaning of Holy Week.

For additional information contact Gail at the Parish Office
