The reader proclaims the First and Second Readings at Mass, leads the Psalm (in the absence of a cantor) and reads the General Intercessions (in the absence of a deacon). Resources containing the specifics of liturgy are available for each reader.
This is an opportunity to share in the Liturgy in a very special way. When there is a truly large number of the faithful gathered, the priest may call upon Extraordinary Ministers to assist him.
The St. Agnes Choir meets each Thursday evening for practice during the school year for approximately an hour and a half. They sing at weekend liturgy twice each month. Cantors help the congregation to worship in song at all weekend Masses and special liturgies. Accompanists (organ or piano) meet to practice with cantors, who are scheduled as little or as often as they wish.
